I was raised not to speak about money. As a direct result, I grew up with an underdeveloped concept of money, and therefore struggled for quite awhile as a young adult while I worked to grasp the value of work versus entertainment. Case in point, I blew my entire summer savings in the FIRST MONTH of college in Washington, DC. I wasn’t ready for the responsibility of determining the value of my dollars.
Fast forward to now- I still don’t like to talk about money. I don’t really like to even think about money. Yet I use money every single day to buy myself food, gas for my car, pay my bills, etc. However, I find that every time I find myself low on funds, if I think about money in a POSITIVE way, the universe shifts and I find myself a little bit richer.
How does it work?
First of all, for this framework, I draw a little bit on the Law of Abundance and the Law of Positivity.
Abundance: The universe contains everything that we need or could ever want in abundance. It’s up to us to go find it. This pertains to money and the monetary system- it may seem like there isn’t enough wealth to go around, but it’s there, just waiting for you. You just have to figure out how to access it, and there are so many ways to do so! But first and foremost, you need to be sending out the right vibes into the universe- Positive Vibes that attract wealth rather than negative vibes that lament our lack of wealth. Which brings us to positivity…
Positivity: If we sit and stew and wallow in our money woes, we are sending out negative money energy into the universe. That is not to say that we shouldn’t call up our best confidante and complain about our situation for a bit- but if we stay in that negative mindspace, it doesn’t really help us to go forward. It doesn’t really help us at all. What we need is a Positive Attitude. Try telling yourself things like- yes, I’m in a bad situation with money right now, but I will get out of it. I will find some way to pull myself up by my bootstraps and make this right. Money will find me.
I do this a lot in my life. I remember one time I was very short on cash and I knew I had some bills coming up. I thought to myself, I really need some more money from somewhere, but I wouldn’t even know where it could possibly come from! But I believed anyway. I pictured myself a little bit richer- a little less concerned by debt. And lo and behold- I found a 20 in my old coat pocket. While that might not seem like enough evidence to give credence to my theory, this is just one incident where this has happened to me. There are so many other examples throughout my life where money came in from seemingly nowhere to help me out when I most needed it.
These days, I’ve been trying to direct the course of my thoughts in a highly positive manner regarding wealth. At night, or even at random times during the day, I’ll try to picture money flowing toward me. Go ahead, picture it now for yourself! See yourself in your mind’s eye and envision wealth flowing toward you in a never-ending stream. Picture it in dollar bills, coins, dollar signs, checks- whatever helps you see this flow of money coming forth to help you out. Now keep doing this whenever you start to worry about money, and I can almost guarantee that money will come to you in some way and in some form to help you out.
Good luck and may the wealth be with you!
